Audition Master Classes Offered for Teens

Shakespeare Theatre CompanyThe Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., is offering a four-workshop "Full Audition Intensive" series for teens (12–18) over four Saturdays in November.

Taught by STC Training Programs Manager and university theater professor Brent Stansell, the series covers all aspects of the audition process, including professional etiquette, voice and text work, and coaching on contemporary and classical monologues. STC recommends that students participate in the entire series, but individuals may register for single sessions. Tuition is $30 per class, $100 for all four classes. Tuition is nonrefundable.

The program kicks off Nov. 1 with Audition 101. This class introduces the basics of auditioning, including selecting appropriate material, making clear choices with the text, rehearsing at home, and presenting your best self at the audition. Students should bring a 1-to-2-minute monologue they plan to use for an audition. Succeeding Saturdays feature the following classes:
